IV. Regulatory Context: Your Adverse-Action Rights

Under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (Reg B) you are entitled to a written statement of specific denial reasons within 30 days of a completed application. Under FCRA §615, if a credit report influenced the decision, you are entitled to the name of the bureau used and a free copy of that report. These are federal rights — exercising them is routine, not adversarial. This section is educational; it is not legal advice, and this document makes no finding that any lender acted improperly. Overlays are lawful business decisions.

V. If Credit History Was a Stated Reason

Credit-related reasons appear on a large share of FHA adverse-action notices. Where the stated reasons are credit-file items (utilization, derogatory marks, thin file), addressing the file itself changes the coordinates you re-enter with. Our credit-repair breakdown maps the options, including professional dispute services.
